Alpha ESS vs GoodWe: what the price difference buys
Alpha ESS is value tier on this site and GoodWe mid tier. Both are established names with batteries on the approved list. The question is whether the GoodWe premium buys anything your house will use.

The ranges
Alpha ESS has one of the longest lists of approved series: the SMILE family, including the SMILE-G3, SMILE-M, SMILE-S5 and SMILE-B5, from under 5kWh to over 75kWh usable, and the Stax series at 54 to 87kWh. GoodWe's mainstream home battery is the Lynx F G2, 9.6 to 28.8kWh, with smaller Lynx units around 5kWh[2].

In WA, the inverter has to be on Synergy's Supported Solutions List for the battery rebate. As of 23 October 2026, Alpha ESS and GoodWe both had inverters on it[3]. Check the exact model on your quote.
So which
Alpha ESS if price matters most, or if you have an inverter from another brand that it pairs with. GoodWe if you already have a GoodWe hybrid inverter, where its battery is the simple add-on.
