Fox ESS, GoodWe, Sungrow or Sigenergy in Brisbane
There is no Queensland battery rebate, so in Brisbane the federal discount is the only thing that comes off, and the brand's tier decides most of the price. Energex's move to time-of-use tariffs is what makes a battery worth more here than it used to be.

Why time-of-use matters more than brand
Energex is moving small customers onto default time-of-use network tariffs, with a peak window and a cheaper solar-soak window[2]. On a plan that prices evening power higher, every battery is worth more, and the difference between brands is mostly price, not saving. Two batteries of the same capacity shift the same energy from midday to evening.
The 10kVA line
In Queensland, a new or replacement system with an aggregated inverter capacity of 10kVA or more needs a generation signalling device[3]. A large solar inverter plus a battery inverter can pass that. It applies whatever the brand; a complete quote includes it.
So which
Fox ESS on price. GoodWe if you already have a GoodWe inverter. Sungrow or Sigenergy if a feature in their premium tier is something you specifically want and will use. On the same capacity, the cheaper battery pays back faster.
Get your own numbers, then get them priced properly
Two minutes of questions gets you the battery size your house actually needs, what it should cost after rebates, and what it saves. Then I find the bottom of that price range for you. No installer sees anything unless you ask.
