Battery brands on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast
On the coast the battery question has two extra parts: where a battery can sit out of the salt and the weather, and how big a big house's system gets. Brand choice still comes down mostly to tier and price.
Price on the coast, by brand
| Brand | Battery | Installed, before rebates | After rebates (QLD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sigenergy | 10 kWh | $8,800 to $15,520 | $6,280 to $13,000 |
| Sigenergy | 15 kWh | $13,910 to $20,700 | $10,230 to $17,020 |
| Sigenergy | 27 kWh | $18,940 to $32,200 | $13,450 to $26,710 |
| GoodWe | 10 kWh | $8,420 to $14,850 | $5,900 to $12,330 |
| GoodWe | 15 kWh | $13,310 to $19,800 | $9,630 to $16,120 |
| GoodWe | 27 kWh | $18,120 to $30,800 | $12,630 to $25,310 |
| Fox ESS | 10 kWh | $7,650 to $13,500 | $5,130 to $10,980 |
| Fox ESS | 15 kWh | $12,100 to $18,000 | $8,420 to $14,320 |
| Fox ESS | 27 kWh | $16,470 to $28,000 | $10,980 to $22,510 |
Installed prices from the same calculator the free assessment uses, scaled by tier, after the federal battery discount[1]. Sungrow is premium tier, priced the same as Sigenergy here.
Salt, weather and where the battery goes
Batteries are rated for where they can be installed, and a coastal garage wall is a different place from an exposed side passage facing the sea. Ask for the battery's ingress protection rating and its installation-location limits from the datasheet, and for it to be mounted out of direct salt spray and weather. That applies to every brand.
Big houses and the 10kVA line
Waterfront and hinterland houses on both coasts can justify large systems. In Queensland, a new or replacement system of 10kVA or more of inverter capacity needs a generation signalling device[2]. Large stacks are available from all four brands on the approved list: Sigenergy's energy storage system configurations reach 54kWh usable, Sungrow's SBH 40kWh and Fox ESS's CQ series far higher[3].
So which
Sigenergy or Sungrow if you want a premium system and will use what it adds. GoodWe or Fox ESS if the decision is financial. On the same capacity, the cheaper pack pays back faster.
Get your own numbers, then get them priced properly
Two minutes of questions gets you the battery size your house actually needs, what it should cost after rebates, and what it saves. Then I find the bottom of that price range for you. No installer sees anything unless you ask.

Common questions
Is Sigenergy worth it on the Gold Coast?
It is premium tier on this site's pricing. It is worth paying for if a specific feature matters to you; on the same capacity, a cheaper battery pays back faster.
Can a battery be installed outside near the beach?
It depends on the battery's ingress rating and installation limits. Ask for both from the datasheet, and for it to be mounted out of direct salt spray.
Is there a Queensland battery rebate?
No. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount applies to every eligible brand.
