Battery brands in Perth: price after the WA rebate, and which are on Synergy's list
In Perth, the battery brand question has a gate in front of it. The WA battery rebate depends on the system being on Synergy's Supported Solutions List, so the first thing to check is not price but whether the inverter on the quote is listed.

Installed prices from the same calculator the free assessment uses, scaled by tier, with the federal battery discount and the WA Residential Battery Scheme rebate of up to $1,300 for Synergy customers both included[1]. Alpha ESS is value tier, priced the same as Fox ESS here; Sigenergy and Tesla Powerwall are premium, priced the same as Sungrow.
Which brands are on Synergy's list
The rebate needs the battery to join a virtual power plant and the system to be on Synergy's Supported Solutions List[2]. On the list as last updated on 23 October 2026, Alpha ESS, Fox ESS, GoodWe, Sigenergy and Sungrow all had inverters, and Tesla's Powerwall 3 was listed. Enphase had no entry[3].
BYD makes the battery, not the inverter, so a BYD Battery-Box is only as eligible as the inverter it is paired with; Fronius, which BYD often pairs with, had entries on the same list[3]. Eligibility is by model in every case, so check the exact inverter on your quote against the current list.
The 1 May 2026 rules
A system installed or upgraded in Perth on or after 1 May 2026 must be remotely manageable in an emergency, with Synergy communicating over CSIP-AUS, or be set to a fixed 1.5kW export limit[4]. Adding a battery to existing solar counts as an upgrade, so whichever brand you choose, the inverter has to meet the rules.
The 3pm to 9pm window
DEBS pays Synergy customers 10c a unit for exports between 3pm and 9pm and 2c at other times[5]. Every battery of the same capacity can shift the same energy into the evening, so the brand changes the price far more than the saving. If the battery joins a virtual power plant for the rebate, read how the program may use it in that window.
So which
Start with Synergy's list, then price. Fox ESS or Alpha ESS if price matters most. GoodWe or Sungrow if you already have one of their inverters. A premium brand if a specific feature is worth the extra to you. The rebate is the same $1,300 for any eligible brand, so it does not change the order.

Common questions
Which battery brands qualify for the WA rebate?
The system has to be on Synergy's Supported Solutions List. As last updated on 23 October 2026, Alpha ESS, Fox ESS, GoodWe, Sigenergy and Sungrow had inverters on it and Tesla's Powerwall 3 was listed; Enphase had no entry. Check the exact model on your quote.
How much is a 10kWh battery in Perth after rebates?
On this site's calculator, $7,650 to $13,500 installed at value tier, less the $3,820 federal discount and the $1,300 WA rebate for Synergy customers.
Can I get the WA rebate on a BYD battery?
Only if the inverter it is paired with is on Synergy's Supported Solutions List, and the battery joins a virtual power plant. BYD makes the battery, not the inverter.
