GoodWe battery in Melbourne: price, and the warranty detail to ask about

Aussie Solar Info · Prices from this site's own calculator; facts checked against the sources below, 2026-10-27

GoodWe is the obvious battery to look at if a Melbourne house already has a GoodWe hybrid inverter. Here is what it costs, the warranty detail most buyers miss, and what Melbourne's network rules mean for it.

Price in Melbourne

BrandBatteryInstalled, before rebatesAfter rebates (VIC)
GoodWe10 kWh$8,420 to $14,850$5,900 to $12,330
GoodWe15 kWh$13,310 to $19,800$9,630 to $16,120
GoodWe27 kWh$18,120 to $30,800$12,630 to $25,310

Installed prices from the same calculator the free assessment uses, at GoodWe's mid tier. The federal discount is the same for any battery of the same usable capacity[1], and Victoria has no state battery rebate open now[2].

The warranty detail to ask about

GoodWe's Australian warranty for the Lynx F G2 gives 10 years of product warranty and 10 years of performance warranty, at 70% of usable capacity or a minimum energy throughput[3].

The detail: for the last five years of the product warranty, GoodWe covers hardware material costs only[3]. So the question for a Melbourne installer is who pays for the labour to diagnose and swap a faulty module in years six to ten, and whether they will still be around to do it.

The sizes

GoodWe's mainstream home battery is the Lynx F G2, from 9.6 to 28.8kWh usable, with smaller Lynx D and U units around 5kWh and 60 to 90kWh units for larger sites[4]. That covers the 10 to 15kWh most Melbourne houses need, with room to expand.

When GoodWe is the simple choice

The Lynx F G2 is a high-voltage stack that pairs with GoodWe's own hybrid inverters. If you already have a GoodWe hybrid, a GoodWe battery is usually the simple add-on. If you do not, the comparison is with a whole new inverter and battery from any brand, and price then matters more: GoodWe is 10% above value tier on this site.

Melbourne's export rules and a battery

In Melbourne the distributor, not the retailer, sets how much a house may export, and it does so at pre-approval, before anything is installed. The rules are changing. United Energy's, CitiPower's and Powercor's connection policies for 2026 to 2031 lower the maximum static export limit to 1.5kW per phase and offer flexible exports of up to 10kW per phase instead[5][6][7]. AusNet assesses most household systems online for up to 5kW of export per phase[8]. Jemena's policy allows it to impose a zero export limit on a new or altered connection where the customer asks, or where exports would be likely to breach technical limits and fixing that would cost more than it is worth, but not where the customer uses a dynamic system it has specified[9].

The tighter the export limit, the more of a sunny afternoon's surplus is worth storing rather than sending out, and there is no minimum feed-in tariff in Victoria to fall back on[10]. That is the Melbourne case for a battery in one line. Your distributor's name is on your bill; ask the installer what limit the pre-approval came back with.

Questions for a Melbourne quote

Which Lynx model and usable capacity, in writing. Whether your existing inverter is a GoodWe hybrid that pairs with it, by model. Who covers labour in warranty years six to ten. What export limit your network approved at pre-approval. And whether the price is before or after the federal discount.

Get your own numbers, then get them priced properly

Two minutes of questions gets you the battery size your house actually needs, what it should cost after rebates, and what it saves. Then I find the bottom of that price range for you. No installer sees anything unless you ask.
