Home battery prices by brand, 2026: what each costs installed

Aussie Solar Info · Prices from this site's own calculator; facts checked against the sources below, 2026-10-27

Battery prices are quoted so many ways that comparing two brands is harder than it should be. This page puts eight brands on the same footing: the same calculator, the same capacities, installed, before and after the federal discount, on Victorian prices.

How the prices are worked out

This site holds one installed price range for each battery capacity, then scales it by the brand's tier. Value tier is the base price, mid tier is 10% above it and premium tier 15% above. On this site, Fox ESS and Alpha ESS are value tier; GoodWe and BYD Battery-Box mid tier; Sungrow, Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall and Enphase premium. The same figures drive the free assessment, so a brand's price here is the price the report shows.

Ranges are installed, for a typical house. Where a house sits in a range depends on the switchboard, cable runs, whether a new inverter is needed and the installer's diary that month.

The federal discount is the same for every brand

The federal battery discount is set by the battery's usable capacity, not its brand: on this calculator, $2,520 off a 10kWh battery and $3,680 off 15kWh. The actual amount is set by a number of certificates per usable kWh, and their value: 6.8 per kWh for installs from July to December 2026, falling to 5.7 from January 2027. It is tapered, at the full rate for the first 14kWh of usable capacity, 60% from 14 to 28kWh and 15% from 28 to 50kWh, and the battery must be on the approved list, installed by an accredited installer and connected to solar[1].

Because the discount is the same dollar amount for every brand of the same size, it does not narrow the gap between tiers. It makes the gap a bigger share of what you finally pay.

No Victorian battery rebate in these figures

Solar Victoria's battery loans are no longer taking applications, and Solar Victoria points households to the federal program instead[2]. So the federal discount is the only battery incentive in the Victorian figures above.

What the price does not tell you

Warranty terms differ more than prices do. GoodWe's Lynx F G2 warranty covers hardware material costs only in years six to ten[3]. BYD's Battery-Box Premium warranty and Sigenergy's SigenStor warranty both promise 70% of usable energy for 10 years or a minimum energy throughput, whichever comes first[4][5]. Fox ESS has described its EQ4800 warranty as about 4,100 full cycles over 10 years[6].

The inverter you already have narrows the list before price does. A battery that needs a new inverter carries that cost too, and a quote that leaves it out is not comparable with one that includes it.

Comparing two quotes

Divide the price after the discount by the usable capacity on the approved list, not the nameplate, and compare that. Check the exact model is on the approved list, whether the price includes a new inverter, and which warranty document applies to that model.

Get your own numbers, then get them priced properly

Two minutes of questions gets you the battery size your house actually needs, what it should cost after rebates, and what it saves. Then I find the bottom of that price range for you. No installer sees anything unless you ask.

Common questions

Which home battery brand is cheapest in 2026?

On this site's pricing, Fox ESS and Alpha ESS are value tier, the lowest. GoodWe and BYD Battery-Box are 10% above them before rebates on the same capacity, and Sungrow, Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall and Enphase 15% above.

How much does a 10kWh home battery cost in Victoria?

On this site's calculator, $7,650 to $13,500 installed at value tier before the federal discount, which takes $2,520 off. Mid and premium tier batteries cost 10% and 15% more before the discount.

Does the battery brand change the rebate?

No. The federal discount is set by usable capacity and the install date, not the brand. Victoria has no state battery rebate open.
